| Ryan Sheeler has been
playing guitar in a variety of styles for 24 years. His teachers were Kathy
Stuart, Howard Nord, Kent Neuman, and Todd Seelye. He has played for all kinds
of events, weddings, parties, dances, church functions, and many others. Ryan
also sings backup for the Box Brothers and plays piano, tuba, euphonium, and
saxophone. He is also a songwriter and composer who has won awards from ASCAP
(Popular Writer Award, 1998, 1999) and the Paramount Songwriting Group of
Nashville TN (Director's Award, winter 2005). Ryan is co-author with David
Stuart of From Bakersfield to Beale Street: A Regional History of Rock 'n' Roll
(Kendall-Hunt, 2006). Ryan is also a long-time veteran of the Central Iowa Music Scene. His previous band Flying Taxi, recorded the album "Standard Fare" and received regional and national airplay on ABC and ESPN in the mid-1990's. He and Jim Noxon played together in the contemporary Christian group The River from 1996-97. Ryan is also a part of the worship team at First Evangelical Free Church in Ames. He has been with the Box Brothers Band since the summer of 2001. |
